I actually Rented it.  Which is what I suggest for anyone who is curious about this game.
I have broken this reveiw into 2 parts Style and Gameplay. (Spoilers abound) My first game review ever!

Style:
This game gets an A - or 7.9/10 when it comes to style.  The concept is awesome.  The Main Character is gritty and hot enough to be interesting  Take all the stuff you love about Grindhouse Films and throw it into a game with a little lackluster dramatic flair.  From the Grainy Film effect to the actual 1940's-50's drive in theater promo's/ads, this game delivered on the throwback vibe.  Add in Tarantinoesque over use of limb loss and blood galore, and you have all the mojo you need to get behind the feeling of this Kill Bill chick.(which is essentially what this is Kill Bill but sans the bride on a rampage of vengence...well just change bride to double crossed gun/sword for hire and BAM) It has to be said though that the film grain can get annoying during play so you can cut that off if you want in the options.  However when you are low on health it cuts back in like a film about to burn out .. which is annoying because it makes everything harder to see.

Rage mode flips the style a bit to Extreme Red black and white .. stylistic and nice the first time you experience it.. then..same ole same ole.

Visually the game is subpar... about the equivilant of the cutscenes in Saints Row 2. The Flim noir scratches aid in the coverup of that because basically this game is about the style more so than the gameplay.

Audio:  Sound Track is awesome, works well but when playing on hard or femme fatale and having to repeat an arena multiple times .. the songs start to annoy you.

Voice Overs
: Love the all-star cast, could have used a few more cliches in the script but it fit the game well enough... Animation just wasn't up to par on the acting levels of Eliza .. I felt the dialouge but the animation let the scenes down.

Gameplay:
Gameplay gets a 5.6/10  not as limited as some games but could have been heaps better
To sum it up in 3 words:  Shoot, Slash, Repeat.  Not much in way of innovation.  In the beginning it is fun as hell to slide on your knees under a table, shoot out the ankles of the person on the other side and do a rising sword slash to the groin of the person unlucky enough to be still alive as you come out from under.  Then it is fun to run along the walls and shoot and slash your way to the other side.  Upside down on ladder shooting.. fun factor .. check! pole swinging and flipping awesome.

But then.. 3 levels later.. Repetitive and boring.  The game allows you to upgrade weapons and fighting moves with points you gain from how well you finished the level and stuff you find along the way.  I have a problem with this because it awards you points based off of acrobatic moves but sliding moves do not count. anything under like 50% of kills acrobatically and you get a Poor or Average which sucks with the points.

Then there is the fact that the only time you can use 2 weapons is when you are in slow mo mode... craptastic.  So pretty much you play the whole time in slow mo or prepair to suck.

Big part of the game is the arena times. Sticks you in an area with doors that have shut off switches you have to get to or else it will spawn enemies till you are dead.  As the game progresses the arenas get more challenging but still same ole same ole.  Turret guy is annoying.. you shoot him a crap ton (can't slash him) then when damaged enough he limps to a predetermined location where an action button is indicated and you are allowed to finish him off. After about the 3rd arena there is a turrent guy in every arena thereafter.

Most of the Challenge in the game is figuring out how to get from point A to B acrobatically and how to get the most chain multipliers while jumping around like a monkey.

Some of the Action button sequences are fun but shortlived and leaves you wishing there were more but again this game seemed to be more about style than substance.

OVERALL:
I give this game a 6.5 out of 10.  A rental at best but if you can muster through the repetitiveness, it is a game worth a single run through, for the story line and cut scenes alone.
I had high hopes for this game .. it kind of let me down... but still I think it did an okay job.

Good review, pretty accurate. I would give it a 7 simply because it's at least trying to be something different. Agreed on the whole rental thing though. *Thumbs up*

great review! and nice use of pictures to show what you were refering to. i like how you broke the game down instead of just looking at it as a whole becuase every game has its strong and weak points. very well played :)
