As a gamer, I find the CoD series out dated and overplayed. They have what... like 8 DIFFERENT games all of which were sort of... lacking any goodness? Yeah, thats the word.. lacking. CoD:WaW was by far the worst game I've ever played. Perhaps I'm too much of WWII freak but the representation of the weapons was completely inaccurate at times. Such as the 30-06 rifle, in multiplayer you can shoot somewhere square in the chest with this thing and it wouldn't drop them as it should. "Oh, but its a video game, you cannot expect it to be so life like.." No, I can sorry. Most WWII games to day have been pretty accurate in their portrayals of real weaponry from this time period, why should CoD:WaW be any different?
As for the one hit kill, ninja dogs of hell.. well that is rather OP like many other guns in the multiplayer. Like all CoD games, the campaign can use REAL help on the story line but other wise.. I guess its a decent game to kick around when you're really bored. Not on my reccomendations for anyone however.
Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare and its up-coming sequel are exemptions from what I consider overall mediocrity. However, like any FPS I've played it really isn't worth that much hype. Halo is good, but not worth jizzing on in over excitement. Gears is... alright too (campaign good, multiplayer ball sucking) but really not worth someone arguing with me over it as the MOST AWESHOMEST game ever.
