Battlefield 1943 is a REMAKE of the Popular PC Title Battlefield 1942

It will still be sometime before we get a chance to play Battlefield: Bad Company and Battlefield 3, so DICE throws us a good size bone for us to chew on. That bone is Battlefield 1943, does going back its roots with a new engine gives this game a new yet familiar experience we can all enjoy or are somethings just best left untouched.

First off Battlefield 1943 is only available on Xbox Live as an Xbox Live Arcade Title, its priced at 1200 MS Points. Also to note its a Multiplayer Only title as well. With that said Battlefield 1943 is a remake of the classic Battlefield 1942 that hit PC couple years back. Surprisingly this game is packing with nice set of maps and the loved game mode "Conquest" is the main mode to play. This Battlefield is so calling your name for all you Battlefield Vets out there.

You have to work with your team in order to win the game.

Gameplay wise its an excellent Multiplayer title to play, up to 24 players can play on 3 maps which are all in the Pacific Theater so those who want to duke it out in the Western and Eastern European Theater, maybe next time. The maps are remakes of BF1942 including, Wake Island, Guadacanal, and Iwo Jima. All of the maps are the basic exact replicas of the old maps but with more details and a whole lotta fun. All of the maps are playable in only 1 game mode, "Conquest" so Old Battlefield Vets will definatly enjoy this one. A fourth map was also unlocked "Coral Sea" after the XBL Community hit 43,000,000 Kills, this map features "Air Superiority" where all players can get to fly in planes and hold a point on the map by having majority of players within the area and with no enemies to take it. This map is definatly great fun especially those who want to test out their flying skills or get into a plane atleast since there is enough to go around. There are only 3 player classes with their own weapons, included with that the health system is based on that of Call of Duty 4, if you get hurt bad just take some cover and you will slowly heal and you can get back into the combat all ready for another beating. It works alot since trying to find medics to heal you can be more pain than what its worth. Also to note everyone has infinite ammo, while playing foot soldiers once you run out of certain ammo you use you will get it all back by waiting a few seconds. This also helps fix trying to look for an ammo box in the heat of battle. There are of course vehicles including Jeeps and Tanks and of course Planes to control. They also help fixed the squad feature, now its easier to have your friend with you in a squad by joining your buddies b4 joining a game, its up to 4 player per squad and you can use mics. If you are a loner you have the option to not be in a squad or you can join someone else's. Another key thing to note the game runs on the FrostBite Engine but more refined, now you can blow up most of the buildings to nothing. There is nothing like having the feeling of using your machine gun to mow down the enemy and have trees fall all around because of your bullets.

You think this is crazy, just see a Bombing Raid on a town.

Graphics wise the game does look great, compared to 1942, its definatly a huge upgrade. The effects in this game like the explosions from tanks or buildings being bombed is great. The map look and feels good in its own atmospheric way. Sound wise the game is also good in that department, you will be hearing alot and I do mean alot of BOOMs and Explosions in crisp yet "booming" sound lol. The game also features a remake of the Battlefield theme which has its own unqiue yet familiar roots tune. Overall the game stands on its own with great graphics and solid sound.

Overall for an Arcade Title Battlefield 1943 does justice to the Battlefield name, with great and simplistic gameplay combined with good solid remaked maps to play on and the graphics and sound hold its own. The game is definatly a must buy for any Battlefield fan. For you multiplayer addicts I also recommend picking it up. This game will definatly keep you busy for a longtime, well until Bad Company 2 and Battlefield 3 releases. Also to note the Game is supposed to get DLC so we will keep a good eye out for it.

I give this game a solid
9.0

If you wish to purchase the game now, you can go on your Xbox 360 into the Market Place or buy it on you PC HERE.
