To put it simply, being a girl sucks. We are expected to put a lot more work into our appearance than a man is. Men will say, "Oh, you don't need to wear make up. You look beautiful without it." or "You don't need to wear nice clothes. You'd look great in a burlap sack."
But then you turn around and these men will be checking out girls who are made up and dressed in designer clothes. So, alas, in order to keep my sanity I spend over an hour getting ready every day. Sraightening my hair, doing my make up, picking out an outfit. Ok, maybe not so much picking out an outfit. I'm terrible at coordinating accessories and all of that jazz. So I'm almost strictly a jeans and t-shirt type of girl with some dresses and shorts thrown in there.
With that out of the way, I would like for you to see a day into my life as a young woman. First I start out with my hair. It's pretty long; about halfway down my back. Straightening it takes anywhere from 20-30 minutes, just depending on how well it's behaving. Next comes my face. I use a toner, an acne clarifying lotion, concealer/foundation, blush, eyeliner, mascara, then eyeshadow. After this it's time for me to find a shirt to wear. I've been trying to purchase more "classy" looking shirts. Like this:
This shirt is a little baggy on me, but it's very very soft. And it's a nicer alternative than the shirts I would normally wear, which is just a plain tshirt. After all of this I'm exhausted and I just want to take a nap. Maybe it's just low self esteem, but if I'm not looking my best when I go out I feel terrible.
So, that's how I start out my day. It's lengthy, boring, and I often wish I were a boy.
