I totally agree. I'm not really big on AC/DC but they are legends that have influenced and paved the way for the bands that exist today. I, myself, am into the heavier stuff, if anything it's balanced ranging from SVR and Dick Dale, Rolling Stones, Eric Johnson< Satch, Vai, Clapton, Floyd to Megadeth, 'Tallica, Maiden, Rush, Sabbath to Muse, HIM, Deftones, Nine Inch Nails, Dream Theater to Slipknot, In Flames, Coal Chamber/DevilDriver, Static X, Lamb of God and such.
But I find it really funny when those younger than me listen to all this SoCal/New Jersey garbage that's on MTV and try to make claims that their tastes better than those who have left their mark in music history. If there's no technical talent, and let's come to terms and alot of bands that are barely out of high school DO suck, then there's no talent period.
It's also no longer about intricate fretwork anymore, it's all about how fast you can sell yourself out to make a quick buck and not giving a flying fuck about your fans. Out of every genre in existence, metal/classic rock have withstood the test of time and will continue to do soas the genre that;s are aimed at the high school age group will just die out in the next few years.
Some may not agree with me but I don't expect them to. This is just my 2 cents :)
