I seriously don't know how I learned to use a computer, my family just always had them. I can remember being like 4 years old and we had a computer. Some of you may relate, but remember that was 1985. There was no internet or anything like that back then and computers weren't something that people really had.
In terms of anything resembling computers today I remember a 286 and 386. It's not that I don't remember the 486 it's just that computers were a bit more common by then, there was internet or online interaction in some way, plus we were all using windows. Back in the day we ran everything from dos, dos sucked. It wasn't that bad and I guess it helped me some in the long run. Teachers I've had over the years were always amazed that I even knew how to use dos, I guess most people my age never really used it. But back in the day computers were amazing but so busted.
The first online thing we ever did was with basically the slowest modem, I know there was like a 2800 but this might have even been before that. There was no internet or email but you could dial into the local library's card catalog and look up books from home like you would at the library. It's so hilarious that we thought that was the most amazing thing ever. Then there was the word processing programs, everyone seemed to be using word perfect back then. Spell Check was like the ultimate feature on that, but it wasn't something built into word perfect. You had to actually get a seperate program and run that. HILARIOUS. Email came along and that was awesome except for no one I knew had it but me. Freakin computers man...damn I feel old and I'm so not.
I keep thinking I should update my picture on here. That one's almost 2 years old, I'm lighter and don't wear glasses anymore. I guess a lot of people would update with changes like that but I don't really give a crap. I hate having my picture taken, I even make people delete pictures they take of me/with me in them on their cameras. The idea of taking my own picture in a mirror just makes me want to puke.
