Here a blog topic that I can answer and probably piss a few people off. Yes, of course it's okay for one partner to tell the other what to do/say/think/wear. That doesn't mean I think it's right or that it's something I'd ever do. In fact I probably care too little about those types of things. In a relationship where one partner tells the other what to do it's still a partnership, that's the point of a relationship.
If someone doesn't want their significant other to tell them what to do then they probably shouldn't be with that person in the first place, that's why it's okay. If you're in a relationship where you hate that you're always being told what to do, then you don't actually like that person. You're just too stupid to realize it and that's your own fault. It's not like they're actually hurting you physically or severely damaging you emotionally. In those cases, yeah then it's not okay. But if your boyfriend/girlfriend is telling you what to do and you hate it then you hate them, break up. If you're being told what to do and it really doesn't bother you then go for it. Some people actually like being told what to do.
