How old should a kid be to play a GTA game?

You know something I really don't care how old a kid should be to play the game. I am old enough, that's all that matters to me. It isn't really a big issue for me. Too much attention is placed on these trivial issues. The real problem facing kids are the same that have always faced kids before freaking Pong was being played in homes. Things like drugs, violence and sick sons of bitches who prey on children.

         Besides people tend to forget that kids, young kids really have no desire to play GTA. Young kids still like kid things. Howdy Doody may have been replaced by Spongebob Squarepants, but it is still a kid interest.

I say let the kids play any damn thing they want to play. I don't think it will warp them. Most of us have seen R-rated material way before we reached the allowed age to do so, except for KevinY2k and he turned out pretty warped, didn't he? ..lol (I wrote that just to check if he is reading every line) I saw plenty of R-rated material when I was younger and it didn't affect me. Every weekend I do go on a murder killing spree, but hey that is just the weekend. It is not like I do it all the time.

        The only way to stop a kid from playing a M-rated game is to lock the person up in a cage and for some unknown reason society tends to frown on such behavior. Thanks a lot society for stopping me from raising my kid right. This is probably a good reason I don't have any kids. Plus the ratio of skeleton on human violence is pretty high where I live, so not really a place to have kids.

I don't think it is an issue with age, but how old you act. If a kid is a stupid ass, a game didn't make him that way, he did with the assist of poor parenting, although there are times when parents acted correctly and it is solely the fault of the kid.

    The heart of the issue is this belief that kids will mimic the behavior in the game, isn't it? I don't think there has been a valid case supporting that theory. If anything it is a lawyer gimmick to explain real criminal behavior. We should give kids more credit then we do. If a kid does something bad it was that kids personal choice to do so. It is called free will and you can't blame some video game or movie or comic book (as the US Congress tried in the 1950's) for that.

      The bottom line is that if kids have access to a computer then they have already seen things they shouldn't have based on their age.
            I don't know if I finished making my points yet I grow tired of typing what seems like endlessly, especially since this was going to be a short blog. For that reason I am ending this blog. So long my friends and enemies and kids who should not be reading this blog.

I agree, children cannot be sheltered from this material forever and it seems these days that exposure comes at an earlier age. The ESRB rating is there for a reason to aid in a parents purchase and if they choose to buy a M rated game for their 9 yr old I believe they should do some DAMN PARENTING and monitor their children playing the game or play it with them to ensure they understand what is happening in the game and to help understand if these actions are acceptable in real life instead of using the Xbox as a babysitter. Most of these crimes by younger kids or even that 15 yr old recently that ran away cause his parents cut him off of COD 4 is Usually the result of shitty parenting. That 15 yr old was estimated to be playing COD 4 for 6-8 hours non stop on weekdays and who knows how long on the weekends. If the parents were paying attention and slowed him down earlier instead of cutting him off all together this may have been avoided, because i'd hate to admit but you can form an addiction to Video Games like everything else in the world and without proper guidance or common sence there can be some very scary results.

All i can say is i wasnt allowed to see scarface growing up and was told by my father even days before my he passed and was barely conscience of who i or anyone else was, a stern no effen way even when i was fourteen. I imagine if that was GTA and i was treated to that same no that i recieved for Scarface i would oblige, but in these times i cant say i truely 100% could or would. It seems the more you listen to your parents and the less they feel they need to regulate, the more you go off doing what your not supposed to and the better you get at not getting caught. I didnt see scarface untill i was eighteen, atleast, and understood my dads reasons for keeping it from me at such an impresionable age. Instead of slanging a little weed here and there as a teen i would of tried to build a suburban empire thinking i was tony himself by the time i was 16, and been promtly killed or arrested for doing so faster then my raiders blow a season or lindsay blows a producer or her career. MS just developed voice recognition software that picks up on slang and is capable of being programed to your descretion, i wonder what made them think of that, could it be the awstruck employess that hop on live thinking there in for good natured fraging? or the mom that accidently overheard her son say im going to rape your garbage ass you motherfcuking pussy to another child with a smile bigger then the one from a visit to Chuckie cheese. Remember the V chip and how Southpark showed us the good that would do? well now imagine the language your kids will come up with to bypass the software so there opponents know how cool they really are, the only way is to take it away and give it to those who are old enough to suffer consequence, like driving or buying booze, you know what your in for when your old enough to get it on your own.
